Mommy Relief was started by 3 moms and a dad, all from the Washington, DC area, who recognized that one of the hardest times in their lives was during the sleep deprived times of early parenthood. Having had a newborn once without help and once with help, a few of us learned that just a day or two of help made all the difference in the world in those first few months. Our mommy reliever rocked the babies and did a few loads of laundry, and we, finally, had a chance to clean out the fridge! Whoever thought that would be something we wished for time to do? What a difference help made in those first few months of having a newborn.
We care for newborns and their siblings, in addition to older children. We have many clients who started with us when their babies came home from the hospital, and now have preschoolers. Other clients use us for back up daycare, or nights out and away from home. We can help with children of all ages.
Those responsible for day-to-day operations and activities at Mommy Relief include:
John Mullenholz, CEO of Mommy Relief, owned and operated StaffWise Legal for over 25 years before selling to the legal division of the largest staffing firm in the world, Adecco. He continued to work at Adecco’s Ajilon Legal until 2008 when he started Mommy Relief. In addition to owning and operating StaffWise, John also had a very successful law practice for 30 years. He has three children and five grandchildren.
Jennifer Smith, VP of Operations & HR, has an extensive background in the areas of Human Resources and Recruiting. Her experience in the HR arena includes working as a Recruiter at Dickstein Shapiro, Director of Human Resources, East Coast for FutureLink, and as Director of Operations & HR at StaffWise Legal, before starting Mommy Relief. Jennifer has two daughters.
Kristin Emery, President, is one of the founding partners of Mommy Relief. She is a Pediatric Physical Therapist, with a Early Childhood Development degree. She brings a wealth of knowledge about infants and children to the company, and is instrumental in providing training and continued education to our Mommy Relievers. Her experience with children is not limited to her experience as a pediatric physical therapist—she’s a mom of three!
Stacie Smith, Director of Recruitment, comes from a background of recruitment and staffing. She has always staffed and recruited in professional industries. Stacie’s experience in the staffing industry has given her the background to juggle the many schedules of our clients and ensure their families have the best care possible. Stacie’s personal experience with children comes from her own two girls.
Allyson Burgess, Marketing, is a Registered Nurse. She’s also a mom to three children. Allyson’s experience as an RN in the healthcare field, and as a mother make her a natural fit to spread the word about Mommy Relief!
Maura McCool, Marketing, is a mom of three. Prior to having children, Maura worked in the legal and finance industries. She is an active volunteer in her children’s schools. Her experiences there have provided her with a background that has extended easily to Mommy Relief.
