Monthly Pictures
Only after my baby’s first birthday did I come across all these fabulous ways that people have come up with to record their baby’s growth. Hopefully a few of these ideas will be in time for you to photo document your little one.

Glow Sticks
April 9th, 2012 // 11:37 am @ admin
Glow Sticks!!
We found a great blog: stayathomemom.blogspot3 who has great ideas for children 3 and under. She was the one who I first saw use the glow sticks in the bathtub. I saw on Pinterest that there are many more for glow sticks to keep the kids occupied. Please use close supervision with the glow sticks, and adhere to the guidelines and directions on the packaging you choose.
Are you feeling like you want to get one more use out of those plastic Easter eggs? Here is a great idea for a hunt at night!!

If you have tossed out the Easter eggs, how about balloons at night?
We hope these ideas buy you a little time for getting the laundry folded or dishes into the dishwasher! Check out more ideas on

Book – The Yellow House
April 6th, 2012 // 9:11 am @ admin
The Yellow House
by Patricia Falvey
This book is unrelated to The Kitchen House (click here for our take on that one), although it is also historical fiction. The Yellow House takes place in Northern Ireland during the early 1900’s. The story winds it’s way around an Irish family and their many struggles and triumphs. The story is interesting, with many twist and turns to keep your interest all the way through. For more information on the book, see here: Yellow House .

Lunch. What a difficult meal!!
April 5th, 2012 // 9:58 am @ admin
Lunch, somehow, has become the most difficult meal in my house. I have picky eaters so we have limited options. They get bored of their choices as do I. PB&J? NO! Ham Sandwich? NO! Cheese and Yogurt? NO! I don’t have time to be a Bento lunch-making mom. Persuading my children to eat by creating a work of art is not my style. While I have to admit I am always impressed by Bento lunches, I need simple and quick. With a little research I found some ideas that will work for my kids discrete tastes. Maybe some of these will work for you.
The deconstructed sandwich might be our favorite! Take your basic cold cut sandwich and put it on a skewer. (moreminutes.com)
Make things mini. Kids love everything mini. Check out these mini pizzas. Pizza dough in muffin tins filled with sauce, cheese and toppings. Pop in the oven at 400°F for 10-15 minutes.
And the push-up pop container below has many possibilities. The Cheekykitchen.com did a breakfast version using a muffin, below. Or for lunch you could make it with yogurt, fruit and pretzels. You could try cheese sauce, salsa and tortilla chips, or even ranch dressing, veggies and ham/cheese roll-up.
I hope these ideas helped. As always, check our
Pinterest site for more ideas.
